LifeStraw Mission is a gravity-based water purifier; it uses a sophisticated ultrafilter membrane with 0.02 micron pores, removing virtually all viruses, bacteria and protozoa.

Our comment: The Lifestraw Mission differs from other outdoor water filters mainly in that it also filters viruses from the water, which most water filters for outdoor use cannot do. This makes it particularly interesting for use in developing countries, after disasters, and for general emergency preparedness.

The Lifestraw Mission and the Lifestraw Family essentially only differ in the container into which the dirty water is filled. For outdoor use, we recommend the Lifestraw Mission, as the water bag is much easier to store and transport than the hard plastic container of the Lifestraw Family.
